NotesThe ballet demonstrates the interplay between classic ballet steps and the contemporary spirit with which they are executed, the interplay between the dancers and the orchestra, and finally between the dancers themselves. The ballet was first performed in Concert Varieties at the Ziegfeld Theatre in June of 1945 and has since been a favorite in the contemporary American repertory. The music is Morton Gould′s ″American Concertette″.
